It's been far too long. Whether it was the job, my peerless status as a DC socialite, or just my disposition, I have neglected to provide my faithful reader(s) with an update on the community that is TPBP.
Fitting we should resurrect this weekly posting with a combination of hellos and a good-bye. First off, a hearty hello to our newest addition to TPBP, poster 'manfish'. Hopefully you caught his first post, and if not you should keep your eye out for subsequent ones, which I believe will always be on Sunday, and will explore all things musical.
Also in the hello category, Aaron reportedly re-entered U.S. airspace yesterday, and should begin posting again soon.
As far as good-byes, I'd like to wish my friend Dave a hearty one. Dave's own (and much more professional looking) blog resides here, and can be visited anytime through a link on the right side bar of this blog. I met Dave while in grad school, and got to hang out with him in DC quite a bit the last few months, while we were both working in DC. Alas, it's back to school for Dave now that his internship's over. He'll be missed, as I don't yet have enough friends in DC not to observe the departure of a good one. On a strictly professional note, you should keep your eye on this kid. He's ridiculously young, but he's got the magic touch.
The numbers are these: Traffic is down folks. I won't lie to you. But, posting's down too, so we won't be casting blame. Only 16 posts this week which isn't awful, but far from great. The bright side is that this coming week will be my last week at my current job. After that I'll have a couple of weeks off during which I'm hoping to write 10K words/week, and be posting far more frequently. I'll be doing a longer piece on my hometown as well. All this, with the return of Aaron, and I think we're in good shape moving forward.
Onto the reader awards:
Comment of the week: Mine, from this post. You don't like it? It's self serving you say? Tough. Make a kick ass comment and maybe I won't have to give this award (and the glorious prizes that accompany it) to myself.
Commenter of the week: The dreaded 'anonymous', I guess. We only had 12 total comments, 6 of which were on 'manfish's music post, and most of them were anonymous. Don't be scared! Insults, thoughtful additions, commentary, they all work.
On behalf of myself, Aaron, and PW, thanks to all of you that stopped by to make TPBP part of your lives this past week. Hope you stop by in the week to come.

TPBP Week in Review
Another week, another smashed record in posts by Aaron and myself (this will be the 40th I believe), and another DNC convention have all come and gone here on TPBP. Traffic and comments were very strong, and I even somehow finagled a job in politics. A banner week all around I say.
But, you're not interested in these silly empirical measures are you? I know what you all want...on to the reader awards.
Comment of the Week: This first award goes to reader "Marna R" in for her comment in last week's Week in Review post. Were there longer and slightly more insightful comments? Perhaps, but we've all got to keep a reasonable perspective and I think that the glory and reverence of TPBP has got to supersede all else.
Commenter of the Week: 'pw' again. Most comments. Best comments. Case closed.
A big thanks for making Aaron and I a part of your routines. In the coming week, please check back for our analysis of all things political (and some things not).
Post Script: Dome, you're a shell of a man. You're half dead to me. Pay your $1 homage to TPBP and make your world right.

TPBP Week in Review
Another week has concluded here at TPBP, and I'd like to thank all of you for making it part of your last week. Aaron and would like to take a moment to apologize for our relative lack of posts this last week. Despite our laziness, TPBP passed the 100 post mark several days ago.
Next week we'll be back to our slightly more informative selves. I don't know what Aaron's plans are, but I'm going to be doing nightly recaps, or perhaps even running diaries, of the bigger Denver speeches if time permits.
Onto the reader awards...
Very slim pickins this week in the comments section. Though the silver lining is that reader 'pw's stranglehold on the awards was broken, as he has apparently gone on commenting sabbatical.
Both comment of the week and commenter of the week go to Jarod K. Anderson, who had by far the best and most numerous posts this past week.
A big thanks for making Aaron and I a part of your routines. In the coming week, please check back for our analysis of all things political (and some things not).
Post Script: Dome, it's week five, and we're now over 100 posts. I think it's time to concede defeat and settle your gambling debt.

TPBP Week in Review
Our little blog's all grows up. Thanks for another great week here at TPBP. Like Michael Phelps, we've shattered all previous records in the last week, setting new highs in site traffic, total number of posts (this being the 30th this week), total reader comments (with 45), as well as the most commented upon post (Self Parody) with 7 comments.
This was also Aaron's first full week of blogging. I hope you're all as excited as I am by the contributions he's made to the site.
So, who will join TPBP on the medal podium? Let's find out...on to the reader awards.
Competition was particularly fierce this week, and I'd like to thank everyone who contributed.
Comment of the week: I read the comments, I reread the comments, I fought, I tried, I wanted to find a way to break "pw"s stranglehold in this category, to no avail. His first comment in the "Because That's the Way It's Always Been" post was just too damned insightful and interesting. I'll do what I can not to so much as mention Chinese food in the coming week to at least make "pw" hit a pitch that's not right in his wheelhouse. Honorable mentions go to "daddy yankee" for his comment in "Self Parody", and to "Jarod K. Anderson" for putting me in my place in "A Little Perspective".
Commenter of the week: I swear I'm trying. I thought about giving this award to Mrs Green, who, after all, compared TPBP to a veneral disease. I thought about Jarod, who had a nice mix of sacastic/humourous -- interesting/insightful posts. I thought about daddy yankee, who made a late run. I considered Aaron for god's sake, which is cheating. I even thought about anonymous. I figured that I should give at least one of these awards to someone else because it might make them feel good for a hot second, and make them more inclined to read the blog in the future. pw had the most posts. pw had the best posts. I really don't know what else to say.
So, congratulations pw. You win both awards. Again.
As always, thanks to everyone who read, commented on, told a friend about, or dedicated a lunar astrology post to, TPBP this past week. A big thanks for making Aaron and I a part of your routines. In the coming week, please check back for our analysis of all things political (and some things not).
Also: Dome, welcome to week four of TPBP. You still owe me $1.

TPBP Week in Review
Ah, it's been another satisfying week here at The Pseudo Body Politic. We set new records in site traffic, and total posts. We also added blogger Aaron, who has already been a great addition to TPBP, and managed to add to the cultural lexicon by creating the word "terroristin’" in a post earlier today. You can't put a price on new verbs folks.
Also, my friend Dome still hasn't paid me his outstanding $1 debt (as he predicted that TPBP would last less than a week). Obviously, the continued existence of TPBP is a bitter affront to his pessimistic worldview. Ah, well, onto the TPBP reader awards...
Comment of the week goes to reader "pw" whose contributions on the Chinese Democracy post made even me feel almost knowledgeable about the level of internal dissent within China (clearly, no small feat). The post itself may have been so-so, but it's really worth going back and reading the comments, if only to see pw's really insightful thoughts.
Reader of the week goes to..."pw", with a dishonorable mention going to "nicholas" who's comments were so offensive as to merit deletion roughly half the time. It may have been a high traffic week here at TPBP, but it wasn't the best in terms of reader participation. So, step it up, and challenge "pw's" current stranglehold on the weekly awards.
Joking aside, thanks to all of you that stopped by to make TPBP part of your lives this past week. If you think this blog is worthwhile, please let others know about it, as having a sizable readership makes it far more likely that we'll be able to continue providing (nearly) quality posts on a daily basis. I hope you can check back again.
